Steven was born in Manchester and raised in rural Coffee County. His father Maurice, a disabled WWII Marine veteran, taught him the value of hard work and instilled in him a respect for the service of our military men and women. A graduate of Coffee County Central High School Class of '96, Steven started work after high school in order to help financially support his parents who were on a fixed income.
After a successful career in restaurant management and consulting, Steven ran for the Coffee County Commission in 2010 and served 2 terms as representative for District 2, the Westwood area. As a county commissioner, he served on many important committees including budget & finance and was chairman of the Manchester caucus from 2013-2018.
While on the county commission, some of the issues that Steven advocated for include: increased government transparency, a more proactive response to lawsuits against the county, reduction of wasteful spending, support of local law enforcement, more business-friendly planning and zoning, and support for animal welfare issues.
